My wife and I finished watching the first season of Orphan Black a while ago, and finally got around to starting on season 2. It’s a long weekend, due to the MLK holiday on Monday, so I’m sure we’ll get the rest of the season knocked out before work starts up again.
We’re about 5 episodes in, and one thing that I have to say about this show is that I still don’t feel like I know anything real, nor do I really know who anyone is. Originally, I thought that the big secret of the show was that the main character was a bunch of clones. However, it’s really a show about the discovery of what that means, and how they came about.
At this point in the series I’m still making wild guesses about where allegiances lie, and who’s really on the ‘good’ side. People that I thought I had figured out, then surprised me, and then surprised me yet again. It’s nothing like reading Game of Thrones, where you need a flowchart, but I feel like I need to start taking notes about who said what, so that when they surprise me in the future I have some context to go back to.
All this to say, that Orphan Black is a really well done show, and I’m quite enjoying it. The first two seasons are free to Amazon Prime members. I’ll need to decide if I’m willing to wait for season 3 to go free or if we’ll purchase it outright.
