Plants of the desert

Over the past few days I’ve had the opportunity to shoot some pics of the various plant life in the desert outside Vegas. It’s still winter down here, so many of the plants are still in their hibernating mode. When we’ve been here later in the year, such as March, things are really blooming. In particular, cacti can be incredibly vibrant.

I put together a small album of a few of my favorites from this trip. One thing I do have to say is that shooting in the desert is not easy. Bright sun is the enemy of nice even colors in photos. All of these images have undergone a fair amount of modification in Lightroom, and I might edit them a bit more when I’m home and using the full Lightroom experience instead of just the web version.

For now, enjoy the plants of the desert.
