USB power

For a long time I’ve kept a USB hub on my desk to plug in my phone and tablet to charge off of my computer. However, in the past couple of years, more and more devices have popped up that charge off of USB ports. Suddenly my desk was becoming a charging station for anything in the house that I needed charged. When I recently purchased a Pro Controller for the Wii U, and discovered that it charges off of USB, I decided enough was enough.

I did some research and found a nice, and highly rated, USB charging hub on Amazon. It is a 10 port hub, made by Anker, and can power 2.4 amps per port. It arrived tonight and I got it set up on a shelf in the office. It’s a simple device with a plug for the wall and an on/off switch. So far it works great, and the next step might be some velcro straps to help with cable management.

It’s wild to think how important USB has become that we now need charging ports specifically for all of our peripherals.
