Tuesday was Super Tuesday in the 2016 presidential campaign, and Minnesota was one of the states that held it’s caucasus. When I awoke on Wednesday I was proud to call myself a Minnesotan for two wonderful reasons.
First, Bernie won on the DFL side, which shouldn’t have been a shock to anyone. Minnesota is a state tailor made for his style of progressive thinking. I still have my doubts about his electability in a general election, but I think that no matter what happens, his influence on this campaign has been powerful. Personally, I would love to see a Clinton/Sanders ticket, and I think a ticket like that couldn’t be stopped.
What I’m most proud of Minnesota for is how we treated Trump. Trump didn’t win in Minnesota, he didn’t even get second place. Trump came in third, losing by 15 percentage points. It’s no secret I’m not a Republican, but right now I’m very proud of the Republicans in our state who saw reason. Minnesotans see through the bullshit that is the Trump campaign, and the majority of them have rejected it.
Thank you Minnesota. Right now I’m very proud to call you my home.
