So a couple weeks ago the Internet exploded with everyone talking about if a dress was gold/white or black/blue. I was one of the people who saw only gold/white, and no matter what I did, I just couldn’t see the black/blue. There were some great articles out there about the science behind it, but I think this XKCD comic captures is quite well.
If you measure those colors they’re the same in each pic. Trust me, I checked.
My point of this blog though is to highlight what another organization did with this meme. Many people don’t know this, but I grew up going to the Salvation Army church, and at one point in my life considered being a pastor in their ranks. So I applaud them for their creativity in latching onto this silly issue to make a serious point. I’ve always felt that they’ve done a good job to highlight the plight of those in need, and this is a great example of one of the issues they try to fix in their organization.
