This weekend was supposed to include a 12 mile long run. TL;DR it didn’t happen.
All this last week I’ve been battling a sore throat and feeling slightly under the weather. I managed to get my 6 miler and 3 mile run done, but by Friday night I felt that I needed some time to sleep in. So I called off from the Saturday run to sleep, figuring I could get up Sunday and take care of it. This morning however I woke up to temps of -8 with a windchill of -25 to -35. I decided that running alone in the woods in those temps was a bad idea. So I ended up hitting the gym and alternating a couple sets of mile runs with stair master sets. Ended up sweating pretty good for a solid 40 minutes so I’ll take what I can.
This week bumps the mileage up to 24 miles. Hopefully the viruses everyone is getting will leave me alone, but more importantly I can’t wait until Spring hits. Hitting the trails for double digits, when the temp approaches double digits below zero, is getting old really fast.
