The unknown path

This past weekend I did a bit of biking and combined it with needing to actually get somewhere. First, I hit up a bike rally at Insight Brewing with some friends, and from there I headed over to Maplewood to visit my brother-in-law and his fiance at their new house that they bought. I love using my bike for actual, useful, transportation. Don’t get me wrong, I love just going for a ride. There’s something refreshing though about biking with a purpose.

Anyway, the point of this post is to mention that I took Google’s advice as to how to get from Insight to my destination. Google directed me on some trails that I had never heard of before, and when I arrived at them I was shocked. There were these beautiful trails through Roseville and Maplewood that I never even knew existed. It takes you past a water reservoir and through some wooded neighborhoods before dumping out near a lake. St. Paul and its suburbs was my old stomping ground, and yet, here I was… somewhere I had never been.

Unfortunately, I didn’t stop long enough to take a decent picture, so the blurry one below will have to suffice. I was more than overjoyed to discover something in my hometown I never knew existed.
