Lately, it’s been hard to come up with things to write about on the blog without feeling like I’m repeating myself. The news is basically just depressing articles about our future president, and even though many people I respect aren’t letting go of the criticism, I just don’t feel like I can dwell on that day after day. I really don’t want to turn this blog into my political platform, despite the fact that I had a ton to say on the matter. Maybe I’ll change my mind as the situation gets worse, but for now, here’s a few random small thoughts for a Wednesday morning.
I’m getting to see Rogue One on Friday with a friend of mine. The early reviews have been very positive, and I’m looking forward to seeing it myself. I’m one of those rare people who enjoyed the prequels, so maybe my Star Wars bar is low, but I think I’m going to enjoy Rogue One from everything I’ve seen in trailers so far.
The Minnesota United broke ground on their new stadium, and shared a bunch of new renderings. I’m really excited to see a game in a purpose built soccer stadium of that calibre. All of the amenities and sight lines look top-notch, and I can tell there won’t be a bad seat in the house. We also had the expansion draft today and got to pick up some key players, including a seasoned keeper. It does make me wonder what will happen to Ndjock though.
I’m running low on beer in my kegs, but this weekend I had a broken garage door spring so I wasn’t able to brew. At this point I might just buy retail until the temps get back up into the 20s. It’s hard to keep a garage ventilated and warm, even with a pot of boiling wort.
And finally, Tuesday I was excited to read about the new Chevy Bolt EV, an all electric car that can go over 250 miles. I commented to my youngest son tonight that it’s odd to think that he might grow up in a world where electric cars end up being more prevalent than gasoline. That was always a weird pipe dream when I was a kid, and the first few electric motors were more novelties than practical transportation.
That’s just a few random thoughts for today, so now back to hibernating.
