Endings and beginnings

It’s been hard to write this week. I’ve been mentally preoccupied with all the changes going on in life. My wife graduates this week, and soon starts a new career, and my youngest starts high school in the fall. We’ve just come out of a long tunnel, and can finally feel heat from the sun from the light at the end of the tunnel.

With my biggest race so early in the year, it also feels like running has taken a back seat to other things in life. Granted, I have a couple 50Ks this year, so I can’t let it slip too far. I need to make sure that I’m getting in enough miles to not lose all the work I did over the winter. However, my legs feel like they want me to take a break for many months.

So many things in life are coming to an end right now, and so many things are beginning. This summer will prove to be a huge sigh of relief, as well as a gentle bracing for the regularity of life to come. It almost makes me think of what other transitions I could toss into the mix, just to get them all done at once. Maybe I shouldn’t be that foolish though…
