Picture healing

During the last mass shooting my friend Wes said I should go take a picture of something beautiful, so as to remind myself that there is beauty in the world. I didn’t quite follow his instructions, but took a picture nonetheless.

After another shooting I felt that tonight I should do something with a picture again. I decided to take a picture of something that I think is ‘beautiful’, one of our local craft brewery’s cans. I also spent some time experimenting with a side light, using my iPhone flashlight.

It took a bit of experimenting to avoid getting a harsh reflection, but I’m happy with the even tone of the results that I got in this shot. I did my standard post-processing macro, but otherwise didn’t mess with the shot too much.

With everything going on in the world, maybe I need a second one of these tonight…
