Thanksgiving 2015

Despite the world being crazy right now, it’s good that we get to pause and spend a day being thankful for the good and beautiful things that can happen in life. This morning started with some fun, as we did our annual Turkey Trot run. This year it was a 6K ,and my wife ran with a friend of ours to give some encouragement and to enjoy the experience of running together.

I’m pleased to say that our friend had an amazing race and didn’t walk at all for the duration of it. She really impressed herself, and both of us. My wife had a great time running with her. I went a bit faster than them and managed all sub-10 minute miles for my race. I was pleased with my time, and had fun, which is what things like Turkey Trots are all about.

It is also quite beautiful this morning. We’re having our first snowfall in the metro area, and the grass is just starting to get covered. I snapped the shot at the top of this post around 10am, and the snow is continuing to fall. Hopefully, it won’t be too difficult for people to get around later, but it’s certainly looking a lot more like the Holidays outside.

The turkey is in the oven, and in a few hours our guests will be arriving. I guess it’s time to state the obvious, that I am so blessed and thankful for the life that I have right now. My wife and family are amazing, and despite my occasional complaints, nothing is so terrible. I’m truly thankful for what I have and for those who surround me.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
