Today is cloudy. Even though it’s winter, the temps are in the upper 30’s and it’s not unpleasant to be outside. It’s a contemplative type of day. The type of day where you drive down to old neighborhoods, feeling nostalgic as you pass by familiar sights. You seek out a tiny little storefront that you remember serves a nice soup and sandwich. Today’s soup is chili, which makes it even more appropriate for the mood of the weather.
You take a seat by the front window and watch the traffic pass as you chew on your sandwich. You used to come here often, walking from the nearby apartment you lived in. There is energy in the sights and sounds of city life, and so you soak it in. But fond memories don’t make the chili cool down faster than normal, and you need to get back to work. So you get a lid, and a bag, and head back to your car.
A day like today needs a soundtrack. Music that relaxes and touches your soul, and you know just where to go. Your old friend was a master at creating music for many moods including days like today. So you pull it up on your phone, plug it into your car, and begin the task of navigating back to your desk. Grateful for what you were able to really feel today, and happy for the life you have.
If you’re having a contemplative day, or a day where you need to relax, or a day where you just want to experience and feel, I’d like to humbly suggest you check out these albums from my friend. He uses the name Michael Miles for these albums, and he has an amazing talent for creating a voice when there is no voice present. It’s truly amazing stuff and I’m grateful to know him personally in my life and that I can celebrate and enjoy his creations.
