The best LEGO series returns!

When I was a kid, one of the main toys that I played with was LEGO. We didn’t have much money, but my mom saw the value in LEGO toys and imagination and did what she could to make sure we could have some. As I became a parent, I knew that LEGO’s would be a part of my kids lives as well.

In the early 2000’s, when my oldest child was starting to get to the age beyond Duplo’s I discovered a cool new series of LEGO toys called Bionicle. From the moment we purchased the first set, we knew we had something cool. Even though we bought some other LEGO series, Bionicle was the one that stuck. We didn’t just buy into the toys, but we also got hooked on the books and cartoons, and to this day my youngest son still has Bionicle sets scattered around his room.

In 2010 however, LEGO decided to end the Bionicle series, and move on to other stories. We were a bit saddened, since it was a very cool toy series, and LEGO invested a great deal of effort into building out the complete world. This year however, LEGO has decided to revive the franchise, and this morning my boys put together their first new Bionicles in almost 5 years.

I sat at the table and watched as two teenage boys were transported back to an earlier childhood, with the excitement of “a new Bionicle” toy to build. Of course, now that they are older I doubt we’ll avidly collect them again, but it was fun to let them have that experience at least one more time.

Thanks LEGO!
